Chartsiri Klinpibul (Patty) is a writer and artist based in Ōtepoti Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand. Originally from Thailand, Patty grew up abroad and has written award-winning works inspired by her Third Culture Kid experience: Smiles and Goodbyes, a short screenplay, and Patty with a WhY, a semi-autobiographical solo stage play. The latter she devised with dramaturg Emily Duncan as part of the Ōtepoti Theatre Lab 2023 Playwrights Programmes, which Patty was selected to participate in. Patty continued working with Emily in 2024 to develop an extended version of this play, which Patty performed in Dunedin and at the Auckland Fringe Festival. In 2024, Patty also wrote Smiles and Goodbyes. The script for this not-yet-produced short film of hers and the script for the 10-minute version of Patty with a WhY have been recognised at competitions worldwide.
